Opposition leader Peter Dutton announces a shadow cabinet with 10 women in 24 positions

Opposition leader Peter Dutton has presented his new ministry in the “fresh” and “balanced” shadow, a week after he became the new leader of the Liberal Party.

Dutton said there are 10 women in his 24-member cabinet, with nationals securing six seats.

Dutton said he was happy to welcome some new faces.

“We have a very experienced team,” he said.

“We’ve tried to strike a balance here, it’s a balance of experience and I’m proud of the team we’ve formed.”

While Dutton did not list the full shadow cabinet, he did announce some key positions.

In addition to being vice president, Sussan Ley will take on the shadow industry, skills and training portfolio, and will also be the shadow women minister.

Karen Andrews will be the shadow minister for Home Affairs, as well as the shadow minister for child protection and the prevention of domestic violence.
