The Ryainair flight, which had initially landed normally at Leeds Bradford, experienced a “slight tire problem” on the runway. The plane was towed to the stand and inspected by engineers before the runway reopened later.

Images at the scene showed a strong response from the fire service and the crews remained at the scene for several hours. Several flights were delayed, including the 12.15pm Ryanair flight to Faro, the 13.25pm ​​Jet2 flight to Paris and then the 1.30pm FlyBe flight to Belfast City. Others were diverted, including a Jet2 LS256 flight from Girona which was sent to Manchester Airport due to the temporary closure of the runway.

And among those canceled were the LS315 flight from Paris with Jet2 and the LS205 to Amsterdam, also with Jet2.

One person told a reporter that the plane was “blocking” the runway for a while after it landed, causing other planes to deviate while firefighters remained on the scene.

A statement from Leeds Bradford Airport said: “Our on-site fire operations attended the runway to support an incoming Ryanair flight that had difficulty landing. Passenger safety is our top priority. and our team acted quickly to handle the incident.

“As part of that, we made the decision to divert four flights to nearby airports while we were on the flight. All passengers disembarked safely and operations have returned to normal.”

A Ryanair spokesman added: This flight from Faro to Leeds (June 5) landed normally at Leeds Bradford Airport at 11.40am, where it then experienced a small tire problem on the runway. Passengers disembarked normally and were taken to the terminal by bus.

“The plane was towed to the stand at 13:16 and inspected by our engineers in accordance with normal procedures, in turn the runway reopened at 13:23. replacement for the remaining sectors “.

It occurs when passengers queued again outside the airport on Sunday morning before the first departures. A spokesman for Leeds Bradford Airport has advised passengers to arrive at the airport three hours before their trip.

They said: “We are currently anticipating longer queuing times for our security process. We recommend arriving no earlier than three hours before departure to allow adequate time for security inspection.”

Manchester Airport has also faced queues to drop off luggage and security in recent weeks. He Manchester Evening News reported one-hour queues, piles of bags left in recovery and flights canceled at the last minute over the past week.
