Ontario reported 419 hospitalizations and three more deaths related to COVID-19 on Sunday.
Not all hospitals, however, send data on weekends, so the number of hospitalized patients is likely to be much higher.
Hospitalizations reported on Sunday fell from 671 on Saturday to 643 exactly one week ago.
According to the Ontario Ministry of Health, 41% of those hospitalized were admitted specifically for the virus, while the rest were admitted for other reasons and then tested positive.
Of those hospitalized, 111 required intensive care, up from 107 on Saturday, but down from 145 at the time last week. Fifty patients need the help of ventilators to breathe.
Approximately 74% of people in intensive care units were admitted due to the virus, while the rest were admitted for other reasons and then tested positive.
Meanwhile, the province reported at least 710 new daily cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, with 6,998 tests completed in the past 24 hours. However, due to the limitations of the evidence, officials say the actual number of new daily cases is likely to be much higher than reported.
The province-wide test positivity rate stands at 7.1 percent.
The new deaths reported on Sunday put the death toll from the province’s pandemic at 13,288.
