Emergency services rushed to the tarmac at Heathrow Airport after two planes crashed into each other while taxiing tonight.

Heathrow has confirmed that the incident between two commercial passenger jets took place at around 8pm this evening and that no injuries have been reported.

A Korean Air 777 plane “scratched” an Icelandair 767 jet, an eyewitness clarified that it was not a “full-on” collision.

Korean Air flight KE908 was scheduled to depart London at 19:35 for Seoul, Korea.

One image appears to show the considerable damage caused to the Icelandair’s tail by the Korean Air’s wing.

One passenger wrote on Twitter: “I’m pretty sure we wing tipped another plane while taxiing.

“We have been told that we will return to the door due to a technical problem.

“But that was 15 minutes ago and we haven’t moved.”

Another person who was also on board said there was “no apparent danger” and that “no one” was injured.

Passenger Randy Del Valle said: “The flight is officially cancelled, but I’m glad everyone is safe, better that this happened on the tarmac and not on the flight.”

‘The plane appears to have “a technical problem”.’

The same user added: “Can’t say we heard anything from inside.” There is no apparent danger, no one was hurt.’

A passenger on the Korean Air flight told the Daily Star: “I was looking out the window thinking we were very close to the tail of a parked plane.

‘And then it seemed we had grazed him.

“The captain has not told us much, except that we will return to the gate due to a technical problem.

“But the last communication was about 45 minutes ago.”

Richard on Twitter said: “I’m on the flight they’re blocking. We were taxiing to the runway and suddenly all these emergency services stopped us.”

“Now they tell us to go back to the door because of a technical problem.”

A spokesman for Heathrow Airport said: “Emergency services are attending an incident involving two aircraft at the airfield.

“No injuries have been reported, but emergency services are attending to ensure all passengers and crew are safe.”

The incident is under investigation. Arrivals and departures at the airport have been normal.
