A search and rescue operation is underway for a woman who fell aboard a cruise ship in Spain.

The alarm sounded at 2 am yesterday just hours after the Azamara Quest left Barcelona, ​​and was off the coast of Mallorca.

Although the woman’s nationality has not yet been made public, she has been described as “average”.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

Two Spanish Coast Guard helicopters have been mobilized to search for her along with one of her ships, and the cruise has also stopped her journey to help.

“Today at 2 in the morning, the cruise ship Azamara Quest informed our center in Palma of a person who had fallen into the water 75 miles from Mallorca,” said a spokesman for the Spanish Coast Guard.

The entire Azamara fleet returned to operation for the first time in more than two years in late May after the pandemic.

The Azamara Quest is a medium-sized ship with seven restaurants, cafes and lounges.

He is due to leave the Danish capital Copenhagen on June 28 for a 14-night trip to the Baltic capitals.

Currently advertised at £ 1,520 per person, the cruise ends on July 12 in Southampton.

Destinations announced by the company include Greece, Turkey, Italy and Crete, among others.
