The hashtag #DelaySonicFrontiers has been a trend since the game’s first revelation.
First unveiled late last year, fans have been desperate to see the Sonic Frontiers game ever since. Two exclusive videos have now been released on IGN, showing the game’s open world design and combat.
But so far fans are not happy with the direction of the game and, as with the redesign of Sonic for the movie series, are calling for a delay.
The first video shows the journey and the open world, with Sonic crossing a green island, climbing monoliths and solving puzzles. The second video focuses on combat as Sonic jumps and hits robotic enemies in flashy animations.
Sure, open areas allow Sonic to pick up some speed, cross water, and climb walls, but it’s a little weird to see a blue hedgehog running through such a realistic world, even though that’s exactly what the movies do. . The world also seems a bit empty, at least in this snippet of footage.
However, the reaction from online fans has been extreme, with many calling for a delay.
Common worries include rigid animations, lack of momentum, and a Sonic-like world without hills, loops, and ramps.
Several comments also claim that the game looks like an unrealistic technological demonstration made by fans.
“You can’t convince me it’s not a glorified tech show. It’s so soulless,” he says in a comment on the combat video.
“My biggest problem with this showcase is easily the animations,” says another. “Sonic seems too rigid and unnatural. It’s especially evident as he runs around enemies, just looking forward without a soul as if nothing happened. Making Sonic look smoother and more interactive with his environment would certainly give more charm to this game. “.
On Twitter, the sentiment is overwhelmingly negative.
This looks like ASS.
stiff and clumsy as shit. These are incomplete boom levels.
This is embarrassing. How is Sonic Team so incompetent?
Why did they feel that this was ready to be shown? it looks like a tech show or a fan game.

Fans want to enjoy an increase in the offer of polished games, as if you enjoyed an increase in commercial offers and sales.
It was a FAN who led the redesign of the film that helped you achieve this success.

Fury is a testament to the passion of Sonic’s fan base, and its power with the redesign of the film’s characters, as well as the disappointing years of 3D Sonic games. Many fans expected Sonic Frontiers to be the next generation Sonic experience.
However, Svend Joscelyne, founder of the Sonic Stadium fan site and director of global publications at IGN, believes the game will not be delayed.
“#DelaySonicFrontiers won’t work because, for me, the main concern is about its concept and approach to the game; a delay in removing bugs and adding content won’t fix it,” he wrote on Twitter.
In the thread, he still admits “It’s not the Sonic game I was expecting in 2022.”
It looks like #SonicFrontiers wants to be a hyper-realistic, film-based Sonic-focused fighting game … based on Sonic’s athletics rather than physics and momentum-based gameplay. And that’s okay if that’s the goal. It’s not the Sonic game I was expecting in 2022.
