A mother has told a courtroom how much she loved him when her teenage son, who dreamed of becoming a lawyer, was killed by a drunk driver.
James Biscoe, 21, exceeded three times his blood alcohol limit when he attacked aspiring lawyer Junior Alexander, 16, in Bromley, south-east London, on July 18 last year.
He hit the schoolboy at nearly 50 mph in a 30 mph zone while driving his Fiat Punto on the wrong side of the road, trying to avoid a speed camera, Old Bailey heard.
After realizing that he had beaten Junior, Biscoe did not return to help him and fled the scene.
In shocking statements read in court during the Biscoe hearing, Junior’s parents explained the devastating impact of their son’s death.
Junior’s mother, Donna Lonergan, told the court how she had asked her son not to go out on July 18 when he said he had to leave something to his girlfriend.
“My last words to him were in a hurry,” he said. “I’ll never tell my other son to hurry now.”
Police woke Mrs. Lonergan at 4 a.m. when she knocked on her door.

“I just remember yelling at Junior and falling to the ground,” he told Old Bailey.
Officers asked him what colors his son was wearing.
“When I said red, I saw the look in his eyes. I knew it was Junior. And then I found out,” Mrs. Lonergan said.
“I saw my baby lying in a hospital bed with tubes coming out everywhere and blood on his face.
‘His face still looked so perfect. I couldn’t believe he was gone. All his teeth had been knocked out. Her teeth are beautiful and perfect.
“The police detained him for so long that we had to keep a coffin closed. I had to say goodbye to the coffin.

Addressing Biscoe, Mrs Lonergan asked her why she was not helping her son and said her decision to leave him “was pure evil”.
Earlier, Jason Alexander, Junior’s father, had told the court how his son aspired to be a lawyer.
“It’s ironic that we’re here in the Old Bailey today … where one day he would have applied his craft. Now he never will,” he said.
He said the situation could have been avoided “easily”.
‘[Biscoe] we knew the law, we all knew the law. Don’t drink and drive, everyone knows that.
Alexander said Biscoe left “no chance” for his son.

“He left his body like a shattered one. All his teeth came out of his mouth,” he told the court.
“And he didn’t even stop to help, he just left him there to die on the street like a dog, a stray dog.”
Asking the judge to give the maximum sentence, Mr Alexander added: “He will still be a young man when he goes out and has a life, something my son will never have.”
Biscoe, of Dartford, Kent, admitted to causing death by dangerous driving, dangerous driving, driving with an alcohol level above the limit and not stopping after an accident.
For mitigation, Piers Kiss-Wilson referred to his client’s guilty plea, remorse and low risk of recidivism when he asked the judge to approve a “permit for rehabilitation.”

Biscoe showed no emotion as he was jailed for six years and eight months for causing death by dangerous driving and four consecutive months for dangerous driving.
He was also disqualified from driving for 10 years and six months.
Judge John Hillen said: “Stupidity and cowardice are the softest ways to describe your behavior that night.
“Here you are in the dock at Old Bailey’s number one court in the face of a substantial prison sentence due to a drunken decision to drive that night.
“The rest of your life you will live with the fact that you took your life driving drunk.”
