A military plane crashed in California on Wednesday, Fox News confirmed.

The crash occurred near Glamis, located a few miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border and west of the California-Arizona border.

“The first military and civilian officials are on the scene,” said First Lieutenant Duane Kampa, a spokesman for the Navy, in a statement. He also dismissed rumors circulating on social media that the plane had nuclear material.

“Contrary to initial reports, there was no nuclear material on board the plane,” Kampa said. “More information will be available as we receive it.”

El Centro Naval Air Station posted on Facebook shortly after 11:30 a.m. that it had received reports of a crashed plane near State Route 78 and the Coachella Canal Highway. The publication said firefighters at the military facility and the Imperial County Fire Department were responding.
