We’ve known for months that Microsoft was working to bring an Xbox app to smart TV platforms, and I also had a clear feeling at a recent Samsung TV event that the South Korean brand was anxious to say something about the Xbox app, but it wasn’t. not yet allowed. Well, today the cat has officially come out of the bag, with Samsung and Microsoft making a joint statement confirming that the first TVs in the world to receive the long-awaited Xbox application will be Samsung computers.
The Xbox application will be integrated into the new Gaming Hub that Samsung is adding to its latest TVs and will allow access to more than 100 high-quality games without the need for any console. Titles announced so far include hits such as Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, Microsoft Flight Simulator and Sea Of Thieves. It is also promised that future Xbox Game Studios titles will be available through the Xbox app on the day of their release.

Samsung has a long marketing relationship with Microsoft, but the decision to launch the Xbox app on Samsung’s latest TVs first may also have something to do with Samsung’s claims that it has introduced new latency reduction technology for its 2022 TVs as well as advanced. motion enhancements and other game-specific features designed to enhance the gaming experience.
The statement released today does not explicitly mention a date for when the Xbox app will appear on Samsung TVs, but it does indicate that the Samsung Gaming Hub will begin rolling out to Samsung smartphones in 2022 by region from 30 June. So we hope to find the Xbox application taking its place alongside the confirmed likes of NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Google Stadia and Utomik as soon as the Hub is up and running.
Samsung TVs set to receive the Xbox application include the 2022 branded Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K, and QLED sets (starting with the BU8000), as well as the 2022 branded “Smart Monitor” series.
Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said of his company’s partnership with Samsung: “We’re looking to bring joy and the gaming community to everyone on the planet, and bring the Xbox app to the world. Smart TVs are one more step in making our vision a reality, which is why we’re excited to partner with Samsung, a world leader in TVs, to bring Xbox to more gamers. providing more access to games and allowing us to welcome new players to our thriving community. “
