You can now demonstrate Resident Evil Village directly in your Internet browser

Capcom released another Resident Evil Village demo earlier this week. It does not include more content than previous previews, but has the advantage of being able to play from your Internet browser with Immersive Stream for Games, a licensed version of Google’s Stadia technology.

The Resident Evil Village online playback demo, with the right name, allows you to play the previous demos of the game’s “Village” and “Castle” using Chrome (on computers) and Safari (on iOS) without downloading anything. It also supports PlayStation and Xbox drivers, as well as the obvious keyboard and mouse layout. The resolution reaches 1080p and does not use HDR, but it is still an impressive feat.

I spent some time playing this Resident Evil Village demo and I can confirm that, yes, Resident Evil Village is fine. The graphics leave a lot to be desired, of course, but the frame rate and latency were almost the same as playing on my PlayStation 5. Of course, your experience will vary depending on the speed of your internet connection (Capcom suggests 10 Mbps or more). ).

Writing about games professionally can be a challenge. It is a constant tug-of-war to want to remain professional and at the same time express excitement and joy for our little electronic toys. We shouldn’t write mini-ads. I was worried that this was exactly what I was doing with this blog until I realized why I found the browser demonstration so great: its accessibility.

Resident Evil Village is fantastic. It’s worth celebrating anything that removes an entry barrier for people who want to try it before wasting bandwidth and / or spending $ 60 ($ 83). Real-time playback technology, even in the face of Stadia’s high-profile failure, still seems like a big step for video games, especially when it comes to accessibility and preservation issues. We hope more developers see the benefits of letting people see their games this way.

It was recently announced that Resident Evil Village will also be coming to PlayStation VR2 if this is more yours.
