2 more accused of murder in Pinkneys Point house fire

Nova Scotia RCMP has charged two more people with murder in connection with a house fire in Pinkneys Point, NS

Police were called to the fire on Melbourne Road on 17 March shortly after 2am. Once the fire was extinguished, human remains were found inside and it was later determined that they were those of Joseph Wickens, 43, of Stoney Island.

Police on Tuesday arrested and charged Michael Roland Surette, 41, and Brooklyn Gavel, 20, both of Pinkneys Point, of first-degree murder. The two appeared in Yarmouth Provincial Court and both are in custody.

Gavel is scheduled to return to court on June 7 and Surrette is scheduled to return on June 28.

In April, police charged Dillon Burton Deveau, 30, of North Chegogg with first-degree arson-related murder. Deveau is still under arrest.
