A reward of up to £ 20,000 is being offered for information about who shot a prominent black rights activist while a charity is trying to destroy a “wall of silence” that has thwarted investigators over the past year.
Crimestoppers will pay the money to anyone who shares anonymous information leading to the conviction of those responsible for the shooting of Sasha Johnson.
“Sasha is loved by her family and friends and is an active advocate for people’s human rights,” said Crimestoppers regional director in London Alexa Loukas.

Johnson was shot in the head while walking in a quiet nightclub in the garden of a house in Peckham, south London, around 3am on May 23 last year.
The mother of two, who is a founding member of the Taking The Initiative party and a prominent figure in the Black Lives Matter movement, survived her “catastrophic” head injuries, but now struggles to say more than a few words and constantly requires . medical care. He often suffers from terrible pain and has limited mobility, according to Crimestoppers, who says his family lives with “lovelessness every day.”
A criminal case against four men accused of Johnson’s shooting collapsed in February.
Loukas stressed that Crimestoppers is independent of the police, saying that it never asks for or records personal data or tracks calls, and its website uses encryption so that it cannot see the IP addresses of the computer.
DCI Nigel Penney, who leads Scotland Yard’s research, described Johnson as a “healthy young woman with children clearly dedicated to her”.
