‘Quite serious situation’: Panthers coach hospitalized for blood clots in his legs

The absence of Panthers coach Ivan Cleary in round 14 has been reported with the first-place winning coach sitting due to blood clots in his legs.

According to Danny Weidler of Nine, Cleary spent a period in the ICU where medical staff discovered the problem.

“In this season of coaching madness and a carousel, Ivan’s situation hasn’t really focused,” Weidler said.

“We have lost three games this year.

“I can tell you he was in the ICU last week where they found out he actually had blood clots in his legs. So it’s a pretty serious situation for Ivan Cleary and the Panthers.”

Luckily, Cleary is said to be back with his team on Tuesday.

“He’s getting treated for it all now, and thankfully he’s back home and … hoping to get back to work with the Panthers tomorrow,” Weidler said.
