Tonight offered our first glimpse, very briefly, of the gameplay of the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 4, as part of Capcom’s non-E3 Showcase.
Still, even this brief excerpt was intriguing.
“The experience of being attacked by hordes of crazy cattle is truly an iconic moment of Resident Evil,” said director Yasuhiro Anpo, as we watched Leon stand around what looks like an initial section of the game.
Head to the 58:05 mark for the new image section of the Resident Evil 4 remake.
“In order to really get rid of the concept of ‘terror of people controlled by madness’, the cattle have been completely redesigned.”
As expected, the iconic camera on the shoulder of Resident Evil 4 is back in place.
Fans of the original will notice how this initial section (Leon still has his jacket on) now takes place in a much darker environment compared to the original.
“Leon is coming to a dense and dangerous forest,” said producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi. “We want to nurture the feeling of loneliness and the fear of not knowing what awaits us, even more than the original. Of course, there will also be exciting battles!”
A shot saw Leon crouch down to crouch under some obstacles, before reaching what appeared to be the first house where he was initially attacked.
Resident Evil 4 is in development for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S and will be released on March 24, 2023. It follows the release of the winter expansion of Resident Evil Village and the long delayed arrival of the game Resident Evil multiplayer Re: Verse.
