Danny Drinkwater confirmed on Thursday that he will leave Chelsea this summer.
The contract of the 32-year-old midfielder expires at the end of the season, so it is not a big surprise to hear the announcement of his imminent departure.
His £ 35million signing from Leicester City in 2017 was very promising at the time, but many consider him one of the club’s most disappointing transfers.
The three-time England international has not really looked like a Chelsea player at any time and has spent time away from the club with four different loans, including this campaign at Reading.
However, no one can take away the Premier League title medal he won in Leicester. He also won the FA Cup for Chelsea in 2018.

Drinking water comes out of Chelsea
Drinkwater has announced his release of Blues this summer with a sincere message on Instagram.
He has made an honest assessment of how his career at Chelsea has developed, which is actually quite refreshing to read.
Mason Mount, along with other past and present Chelsea players, have reacted to Drinkwater’s post.
“What a boy,” Mount wrote.
Life beyond Chelsea
To be fair, Drinkwater can still offer a lot to the championship teams.
The central midfielder made 34 appearances in all competitions this term during his season-long loan at Reading, so it will be interesting to see who tries to sign him now that he is becoming a free agent.
Reading local media congratulated Drinkwater on a display early in the campaign, and there were signs of a renaissance in his game over the past nine months.
Unfortunately, he was unable to make the leap when he left Leicester on a major transfer to Stamford Bridge.
It is a difficult task for any midfielder in Chelsea’s cards right now who wants to enter the line-up ahead of Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante or Jorginho.
