Apple’s new entry-level iPad could include A14 chip, 5G and USB-C

Of almost all current Apple products, the incoming iPad is likely to be the most delayed for an upgrade.

According to 9to5Mac sources, the next entry-level iPad will feature Apple’s A14 Bionic chip, 5G and a USB-C port. The tablet has remained virtually the same over the last few generations, with processor upgrades being the only exception.

If this report is accurate, the entire Apple line will soon have USB-C, including the iPad Pro, iPad Air, and even the iPad mini.

9to5Mac claims that the entry-level iPad will also have a screen that offers the same resolution as the iPad Air screen. While the current ninth-generation iPad screen measures 10.2 inches, the new entry-level iPad could have a 10.5- or 10.9-inch screen, according to the report.

It is unclear whether Apple will also update the entry-level iPad design with the more square look now offered by the rest of the tablet line. Given the age of the current entry-level iPad, I’m sure Apple will choose to upgrade the tablet’s design to some level. The iPad also seems likely to still have a physical Touch ID button.

At the end of the year, Apple is expected to launch a new iPad Pro equipped with an M2 processor, the same chip that appears on the newly unveiled MacBook Air.

Apple’s current 10.2-inch iPad starts at $ 429.
