It now appears that De Jong’s move to United is more the signing of Ten Hag’s dreams than a likely transfer. It is believed that he wants to stay at Barcelona, and if he is forced to do so, he wants to continue in the Champions League, instantly putting the M16 club at a disadvantage.
If Barcelona manages to get one of Bernardo or Lewandowski through the goal, it would increase their chances of a deal for De Jong a little. But still, given Guardiola’s interest, a move to City to replace the Portuguese game creator and challenge on all fronts is sure to attract more appeal.
