Okay, with that out of the way, here are some reflections from other places, starting with IGN, which gave this new release 8 out of 10:
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is exactly what it looks like: a lovingly designed reimagining of TMNT’s arcade beat-em-ups from one of the best beat-em-up developers in the business today.”
Nintendo World Report gave the last turtle game 9 out of 10:
“In short, if you’re a TMNT fan or like beat-’em-ups, you’ll probably dig into the colorful and upbeat Shredder’s Revenge, especially if you can find a few other ninjas to relax with.”
GamingBible has stuck with it, giving it another 9 out of 10 rating:
“File Shredder’s Revenge along with Streets of Rage 4 and River City Girls as such a contemporary masterpiece, an exemplary demonstration of how to fix a well-traveled stylistic path after so many direct experiences and somehow make the much more special journey than destination “.
EGM gave it 4 out of 5 stars, but had some issues:
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge aims to recapture the glory days of Konami’s side-scrolling arcade games and home hits based on everyone’s favorite young green ninjas. In their imagery and gameplay, Dotemu and Tribute Games don’t Only those retro classics to pay homage to here, but maybe even surpass them, unfortunately this time travel is a bit messy with inconsistent audio and an arcade mode that feels more like a slog than a emotion “.
And last but not least, GoNintendo, another outlet he loved:
“TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is the genuine article, and it demonstrates once again how Dotemu has incredible respect / understanding for classic beatings. We now know that Tribute Games is capable of doing the same, and these two have come together. resulted in not only one of the best TMNT games ever, but one of the best beat’em-ups in years. “
