The Sydney man charged more than $ 70 million for methamphetamine abuse

A Sydney man has been charged with a $ 70 million methamphetamine explosion in which the drug was found hidden in disguised containers of building materials.

Police found 10 containers carrying 233 pounds of the substance, labeled as structural supports, in March.

Investigations led to the arrest of a 35-year-old Auburn man, whose officers searched Thursday.

Police confiscated “a large amount” of evidence from the house, including documents and emails, alleging linking the man to the shipment.

Downing Center local court is facing off today.

The maximum penalty for the crime is life imprisonment.

Detective Superintendent Matthew Ciantar said the bust sends a “very strong message” that Australia is not an easy target for criminals.

“Despite criminal networks’ efforts to evade detection, authorities continue to identify and disrupt unions trying to break Australian law,” he said.

“AFP and our partners will continue to prevent these harmful drugs from taking to the streets and affecting the communities in which we live and work.”
