Trans children are going through “nothing more than a phase,” the Conservative MP says

Schoolchildren who identify as trans are not going through “anything more than a phase,” a Conservative MP said.

Nick Fletcher, the South Valley MP for South Yorkshire, has sent a letter to all schools in his constituency asking them to state their position on the “trans issue”.

He also urges schools to “retract” children who question their gender identity and suggests that the “transgender lifestyle” is being enchanted.

“I think boys are just boys and girls are girls,” says Mr Fletcher’s letter.

“Obviously, there are some who may feel different about this.

“I remember in my childhood there were girls who were seen as ‘Marimatxes’ and usually or probably prepubescent boys who liked the company of girls more, so this in itself is nothing new.

“What’s new is the way it looks now. The media now looks like our kids and young people see that they can be or really are transgender when it comes to feelings of being a boy or a girl.

“The books that make this ideology acceptable to embrace and these media in all their glamorous forms of this transgender lifestyle, I’m afraid they reaffirm something that is just a phase.

“I understand that schools sometimes feel that they have to be everything to everyone and are afraid of being classified as transphobic.

“But please make sure a push is desperately needed in this case, and if you do, I will defend you at all times and defend your determination.”

Mr Fletcher has previously criticized the idea of women taking on traditionally male roles on screen, suggesting that young men were committing crimes because positive male role models on television have been replaced by female characters.

In a debate on International Men’s Day at Westminster Hall last November, Mr. Fletcher highlighted the difficulties many boys face and told lawmakers that some of them were “behind” at school.

Fletcher said in the debate that there seems to be a “small but very vocal minority” who wants a female replacement for “every male character or good role model.”

“In recent years we’ve seen Doctor Who, Ghostbusters, Luke Skywalker, Equalizer all replaced by women, and men are left with the Krays and Tommy Shelby (from the crime drama Peaky Blinders),” the Don Valley MP said. .

“Is it any wonder we’re seeing so many young people committing crimes?

“These programs make crime look great.

“Trust me, a life in prison is not great, nor is living with the memory of a stabbed son or daughter.”

Jodie Whittaker became the first female Doctor Who in 2017, while a remake of Ghostbusters in 2016 included an all-female lineup in the lead roles.

At the time of his statement, Fletcher was criticized by Liberal Democrat MP Alistair Carmichael, who told the Commons: “It looks like Nick Fletcher has entered the Tardis and made a trip to the 1950s, where his attitude belongs.” .

Fletcher, who became MP in 2019, later posted a statement on Twitter saying his “nuanced point” had been “misinterpreted”.

“As has been allegedly quite lazy by several people, I did not link a Doctor Who who was a woman to a crime committed by men,” she said.

“In fact, I was making a statement that boys and young people also need positive role models in the media, just like women.

“Guys need positive male role models, and this is a point I will keep repeating and never apologize for doing so.”

Mr. has been contacted. Fletcher for comment.
