Motley Crue star Tommy Lee lasted just five songs on the band’s new reunion tour before making a surprise announcement to fans.
Rocker Tommy Lee did not let his broken ribs get in the way of his reunion with his bandmates Mötley Crüe after a break of almost seven years on Thursday.
Although the iconic drummer lasted only five songs on the band’s long-awaited start-up tour in Atlanta, Georgia, it was actually five more songs than his doctor ordered.
Like Lee, the musician ignored the doctor’s advice and went ahead with his performance during the band’s opening night alongside Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts.
After continuing to soldier through five tracks on drums, Lee’s pain was too much for him.
“Man, you won’t believe this shit,” he wrote on social media before the concert. “I broke four fucking ribs!”
“But I’ve been resting and healing and even though the doctor tells me I shouldn’t play anything, you know I’m stubborn and I’ll overcome the pain every show for as many songs as I can.”
Lee revealed that he had Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne drummer Tommy Clufetos saving the show until it “returned to 100 percent.”
“We’ve all been waiting for this moment for years and there’s no way I’m going to miss it! Let’s continue with the show,” Lee added.
“We did it! You did it, we did it, we’re fucking here!” he told the crowd, referring to the times the tour was postponed from 2020 as a result of the pandemic.
“Okay, anyway, what I have to tell you is about 14 days ago, I broke not one, not two, not three, but four fucking ribs right here.”
“I wish I had a really bad story, like me and Conor McGregor in a fucking bar or something, but I don’t have it,” Lee explained, before welcoming Clufetos. The stage.
Before leaving the stage, Lee shared the doctor’s orders with the crowd:
“The doctors told me, ‘Don’t play, brother. Don’t play. And I said, “Are you fucking up? .
During the fifth song of the whole band, Lee decided it was time to call him and rest. He left the concert behind his drums, according to Ultimate Classic Rock.
The electric concert will be extended over the next few months, with its final stop on September 9 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
