A Florida woman accused of spraying four women with pepper spray while launching into an anti-Asian diatribe in Manhattan was considered a possible escape risk in her first court appearance on Saturday and ordered her arrest on bail. $ 20,000.
Madeline Barker, 47, faces charges of assault as a hate crime after being caught by the camera on June 11 in Chelsea, wearing a strong Fuschia dress and huge sunglasses as she says to four women who “come back from where you come from” and triggers the spray attack.
Prosecutors said Barker was at risk of fleeing because he is a resident of Merritt Island in the sunny state. She did not surrender and was only captured after an eyewitness recognized her on the street and called police, a district attorney said in the Manhattan Criminal Court.
Judge Eric Schumacher agreed and set a $ 20,000 cash bail, a partially secure $ 20,000 bail.

One of the victims told The Post in an interview that she and three friends had left the LEAF flower show in the Meatpacking District around 6pm when the confrontation was assured. One of the group members realized he had lost a bag and friends stopped at a corner, before Barker complained that the women were “harassing” him, the victim said.
The video shows the woman and the group arguing before Barker approaches and sprays them. She allegedly shouted “Come back where you came from! Come back to your country!”
Defendant left the scene, police and the victim said.
Barker is due to return to court on Thursday.
