The European Commission recommends “candidate status” for Ukraine and Moldova.

“Ukrainians are ready to die for the European perspective.” This is according to the leaders of the European Union.

The executive arm of the 27-member bloc recommends “candidate status” for Ukraine, along with Moldova.

The invasion of Russia has made the issue even more urgent. However, all EU members must approve the candidacy.

If accession talks move forward, it could take years to complete, and Ukraine will have to commit to reforming its economy, its judicial system and accepting the common European currency.

So Kyiv will be able to overcome these challenges?
