Obviously, the “TV Remote” app to control your Apple TV with your iPhone is back with iOS 16 (via @SteveMoser).
Finally, the TV remote control is an app again. Now if only at the top of the Spotlight search results. Has anyone taken a shortcut to start it and be able to put me on my home screen? pic.twitter.com/41qw24cQ7e

Apple’s virtual iOS controller for its Apple TV offerings was originally available as an app. However, Apple removed all traces of the TV Remote app from the App Store, support documents, and other sites in October 2020 after the functionality was integrated directly into iOS and iPadOS through the App Center. control.
The tech giant in Cupertino, California, made room for the Apple TV remote in the iOS 15 Control Center, where it has remained ever since. However, that changes with iOS 16, where a standalone app returns.
Apple introduced iOS 16 with a brand new lock screen, additional sharing features, communication enhancements, and more at its World Developers Conference (WWDC) earlier this month. The company has already released the first beta for developers for iOS 16 and a public beta is expected next month.
In the meantime, you can also simplify access to the TV Remote application by simply placing a shortcut that launches it on the Home screen.
While iOS 16 isn’t the biggest update the iPhone software has seen in terms of looks, it’s still full of changes, enhancements, and new features. iOS 16 will not be available to the general public until later this year in the fall.
