NEW CASTLE, NH – A 70-foot yacht burned and sank in New Hampshire and sent three people to hospital, authorities said.
The boat, the Elusive, was on the Piscataqua River heading for a New Castle marina around 4pm on Saturday when a passenger noticed black smoke under cover, the New Hampshire Department of Homeland Security said. in a statement.
The Coast Guard and the New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol posted photos of the flames and thick black smoke coming out of the boat.
Three passengers, as well as two dogs, jumped overboard as the ship caught fire. They were rescued by other ships.
The passengers, identified as Arthur Watson, 67, and Diane Watson, 57, both from New Canaan, Connecticut, and Jarrod Tubbs, 33, from Jupiter, Florida, were taken to a hospital, treated and donated. ‘high.
