Man Utd Transfer News: Ten Hag Aims Robby McCrorie to Solve Rapid Development Team Problem

Manchester United are keen to sign Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie to strengthen their ranks between the posts, according to a report.

Amidst the scrutiny of the United team, the goalkeeper is an area in which, at least internally, they have had no concerns. Despite David de Gea’s poor form in past seasons, he has retained his top-flight role.

And that will not change next season after a campaign in which he was one of the club’s most prominent players. However, De Gea’s form has caused a domino effect below the hierarchical order.

Man Utd’s second-round pick Dean Henderson has been frustrated by his ongoing struggles for playing time. So the 25-year-old is in talks about a move to Nottingham Forest.

Behind him, Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder wants veteran Tom Heaton to help with his promotion. As a result, United have suddenly pushed a new goalkeeper on their transfer priority list.

And according to The Sun, Old Trafford boss Erik ten Hag has his eyes set on Rangers star McCrorie to fill the void.

The 24-year-old is a regular under-21 Scotland international, but has secured a senior call-up for the final League of Nations games.

McCrorie remained on the bench, however, as he did for most of the season with the Rangers. In fact, he was on the roster for every game in the Rangers’ career for the Europa League final, but he didn’t play a single minute.

As he enters the final year of his contract, the Rangers could sell him to avoid losing him for free next summer.

His goalkeeping rankings are secure, with Jon McLaughlin replacing Allan McGregor before next season. McGregor, 40, has transfer interests from the UAE.

The Sun adds that McCrorie has an interest in both Scotland and England, with United firmly looking for him.

McCrorie may suffer a similar fate

United will need a new secondary goalkeeper if Henderson and Heaton leave.

However, McCrorie may suffer the same fate as the first two if she moves to Old Trafford.

De Gea rediscovered his best form last season and, despite the club’s problems conceding goals, the situation would certainly have been worse without the Spaniard.

De Gea will want to impress Ten Hag and consolidate his Man Utd number one status with the new coach.

McCrorie may like a move to Old Trafford, but in the end she may not have as much time as she wants.
