A man accused of setting fire to a woman on a TTC bus last week is due to appear in court today for a bail hearing.
The suspect faces four charges related to the incident, including attempted murder and assault with a weapon.
On Friday, June 17, police said a man aboard a bus at Kipling Station allegedly spilled flammable liquid on a passenger and set it on fire.
The woman, believed to be in her 20s, suffered second- and third-degree burns. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Police said the suspect fled the area but was later located and arrested.
On Sunday, police identified the suspect and said he treated the incident as an alleged hate crime.
Police said the suspect and the victim were unknown and the attack was an isolated incident.
The suspect goes to court today at 10 a.m.
