Shots were allegedly fired at a house near Bathurst shortly after 9pm yesterday, with several bullets hitting the front of the brick house.
Chifley Police District Superintendent Bob Noble said it was a very serious offense.
“Our initial inquiries indicate that housing was probably a target. It was not a random attack,” he said.
The 40-year-old woman, the two-year-old boy and the six-month-old girl were not injured but were reportedly distressed by the incident.

“It is very fortunate that no one has been injured,” Superintendent Noble said.
The family has been relocated from Bannerman Crescent.
“It’s very rare for this part of New South Wales for something like this to happen,” he said.
Police said they discovered a black Toyota Kluger, which was reported stolen in January, burned in a nearby street that will be examined for possible links.

The ballistics team is examining the bullet holes in the front of the house and the shell caps.
No person has yet been identified, but Superintendent Noble said they have developed a number of clues.
“We’ve definitely talked to a lot of people in the area and people have been very close,” he said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Bathurst Police.
