Inflation in the UK has risen further to 9.1%, the highest rate in 40 years amid the cost of living crisis.
Figures from the National Statistics Office showed an increase in May from 9% in April, as measured by the consumer price index, as petrol prices and the cost of a weekly shop they put pressure on homes across the country.
Last week, the Bank of England warned that inflation was on track to reach 11% by the end of this year amid rising gas and electricity prices.
