Severe storm monitoring

This map shows areas east and northeast of Kamloops under severe storm watch on Wednesday morning.
There is severe storm monitoring in much of BC east and northeast of Kamloops, a storm with the potential to pour a lot of rain into an already inflated river system.
Clocks are in place for North Thompson, Shuswap, North Columbia and West Columbia, an area that together includes Sun Peaks, Salmon Arm, Clearwater, Blue River and Revelstoke.
“Conditions are favorable for the development of severe storms that may be able to produce strong gusts of wind, heavy hail and heavy rain,” Environment Canada said in issuing the clock.
The agency said severe storm warnings are issued when conditions are favorable for a storm that could lead to heavy hail, damaging winds or torrential rains.
The City of Kamloops and the BC River Forecast Center have said that any heavy rains in the North Thompson or South Thompson watersheds could mean bad news for flooding in the Kamloops area and beyond the Thompson River.
Kamloops himself is not included in the severe storm watch.
