The Shuswap River continues to grow.

The Enderby Emergency Operations Center is monitoring and responding to localized flooding conditions and encouraging residents who may live in flood-prone areas to take steps to protect their property.

As of June 21, the water level of the Shuswap River is 4.79 m (15.72 ft) above the water level.

In comparison, on June 20, the height of the Shuswap River water was 4.77 m (15.65 ft).

Light rain is expected this afternoon and is expected to continue throughout Wednesday.

Forecast models predict that the Shuswap River discharge rate will increase slightly during the week.

The BC River Forecast Center maintains flood surveillance in the Shuswap region, which includes tributaries of the South Thompson as the Shuswap River.

Flood monitoring means that river levels are expected to rise and approach or exceed the river bank, and flooding may occur in areas adjacent to affected rivers.

Sand and sandbags are available free of charge in the Public Patio at 2308 McGowan Street. Bring your own shovel.
