Editable iOS 16 messages may not work well with earlier versions of iOS

It seems that editing messages sent with iMessage, one of the marquee features of iOS 16, may not work well when you interact with someone who has an earlier version of Apple’s mobile operating system (OS).

According to 9to5Mac, in Apple’s second beta version of iOS 16, anyone using an earlier version of the operating system will receive the edited text after the original message, along with the words “Edit to”. While this solution makes sense, it primarily nullifies the purpose of editing a text.

Of course, most people update their devices to the latest version of iOS, but editing messages could be problematic for anyone who still has iOS 14 or iOS 15. It’s also worth noting that iOS 16 is compatible with devices dating back to the iPhone 8 of 2017. and that only the 1st generation iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 7 and 7th generation iPod Touch do not support the new operating system update .

In iOS 16, editing or canceling the sending of a message is done by long-pressing the message in Apple’s iMessage app. This feature only works for 15 minutes after sending the original text.
