Nothing has announced a new distinctive phone with an unusual name: the ‘Nothing Phone (1)’ will be released this summer. Here is everything we know so far.
First of all, it’s worth giving you the background of this new smartphone. Nothing founder Carl Pei was one of the brains of the OnePlus brand before he left in 2020 to start Nothing.
The brand is now known for its headphones, which carry the same distinctive style of transparency, allowing you to see some of the interiors. The quality of the headphones, combined with Pei’s previous work on OnePlus, makes the Nothing Phone (1) an exciting proposition. As you can see in the image above, the phone has a transparent look and, in terms of its shape, it seems to share some similarities with the Apple iPhone 13.
Aside from the style, Nothing has shown that it is willing to deviate from market standards as a brand, as most other new Android phones currently offer a triple camera array on the back. The Nothing Phone (1) offers two cameras but looks good. We still have no confirmation of the power of these two cameras or the nature of the front camera.

Nothing Phone (1) release date
The full presentation of Nothing Phone (1) is scheduled for July 12, 2022 and we look forward to knowing the release date then. Most likely it will be shortly after and we assume that the pre-orders will probably be launched at the end of the presentation.
So far, the actual release date has not been confirmed, but Nothing kept it quiet until the 12th. The company said the phone will be fully launched during “the summer of 2022.”
Nothing Phone (1) Price United Kingdom
Right now, Nothing has confirmed the price of its first smartphone.
However, the German news channel Allround-PC reported a leak suggesting that the phone will cost about € 500. This aligns it as a rival to the Google Pixel 6a, rather than the iPhone 13, Samsung S22 or other high-end phones.
This would fit with Pei’s previous work on OnePlus. The co-founder and CEO turned OnePlus into a brand that offered large feature sets with no high-end pricing. Now, OnePlus is moving to more premium phones, so the Nothing Phone could become another key competitor in the mid-range market.
Nothing on the phone (1) specifications
So what’s under the hood? First of all, Nothing has confirmed that the device will work with a Qualcomm chip, although the company has not yet said which one.
Elsewhere, the phone will come with three years of software updates and four years of security updates. It will run with Nothing OS, which apparently comes close to an intact Android experience and includes less bloatware than third-party devices and operating systems.
There’s also an always-on screen and a wireless charging, but we still don’t know how big that screen will be. We expect industry-standard 120 Hz refresh rate and an OLED panel.
