A GoFundMe employee for a Burger King employee is approaching $ 80,000 after a viral video showed him being given away a movie ticket, candy, a cup of coffee and some pens for 27 years of service.
Kevin Ford began working at the company as a single father to gain custody of his first two children, his daughter Seryna told the GoFundMe account. As his family grew, he stayed at work and “continued to work here thanks to the incredible health insurance.”
“My father is still working here, because even though he looks young, he is reaching retirement age and leaving would cost him retirement.
“By no means are we asking for money or waiting for money, but if anyone wants to bless it they would love to visit their grandchildren.”
The sheer amount of support surprised the family, with fundraising now approaching $ 80,000 in just three days.
‘I’m tied up here to spend dinner without crying! You are such remarkable people, “Seryna wrote in the latest update. ‘I really can’t believe it. You’re all changing her life!
One of the many donors includes the famous comic David Spade, who donated $ 5,000 and had a private Instagram exchange with the BK worker.
