Bernie Ecclestone has claimed that Mercedes boss Toto Wolff is “fed up” with Lewis Hamilton and is considering replacing the hugely successful star. Hamilton has endured a miserable F1 season this year and is sixth low in the Drivers ’Championship standings.
Hamilton just missed an eighth F1 championship last season as Max Verstappen claimed his first title after winning the last race of the year in Abu Dhabi. But this year, Hamilton has not been able to keep pace with his rivals at the top of the standings, with his Mercedes car struggling with porpoise problems.
The Briton still has one more year left on his contract with the Silver Arrows. But former F1 boss Ecclestone believes Wolff has considered offering Hamilton a package to get away from the team early.
“Toto is a little fed up with Lewis,” the 91-year-old told the Daily Mail. “I don’t think he’s trying, do I? Let’s put it another way, Lewis doesn’t seem to mind losing. He’s not like him. He’s competitive, but I like taking the loss a little bit. easy.

“I didn’t think he would [Russell] it was so good, but it has done an excellent job, “the business tycoon continued.” I’m surprised. Or is it a case of Lewis doing a bad job? A little of both. I don’t think so [Hamilton] is actively helping George. I don’t think he does anything. I don’t think he cares too much. He is not ready to strive to win as he did. “
And Ecclestone has not reserved his criticism of Hamilton for his driving, as he has also dealt a strange blow to the fashion sense of the 37-year-old. “I don’t know what he’s doing dressing up in all that fun clothes,” Ecclestone added. “Do you have an agreement to do it? Is it to be noticed? Maybe that’s it.”
