POLICE officers received a note from a disgruntled resident after parking his car to help his comrades arrest a man after an alleged assault.
Officers from Lymington and New Milton Cops left the note after parking the vehicle on a side street on Bridge Street on Saturday evening.
A spokesman said: “Last night Waterside team officers helped our response colleagues arrest two men after an assault on a Lymington pub on staff members.
“The two men, who had separated from a larger group, had fled the officers and were located on Bridge Street by a single manned officer who chased them on foot to arrest them.
“The two men were arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of assault and assault on a police officer. Fortunately, the officer was not injured.
“The officer had parked his vehicle on a side street on Bridge Street to chase the suspects.
“After returning to his vehicle, after chasing the criminals, he stopped them and was attacked and located the note attached to his car.
“We appreciate that parking is a common problem, but officers often have to make decisions at the time of heat and we can’t always explain to residents what’s going on and the reasons for our actions.
“I hope the angry resident can understand the reason for having to leave the vehicle where it was.
“The two men are still in custody at this time and investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident can contact us at 101, or online, citing reference 44220253635.”
