Coldplay’s Chris Martin surprises the regattas with a performance at the pub

The owner of a pub has said he felt Glastonbury had been brought to him after Coldplay leader Chris Martin approached and played the piano for the lucky ones.

Chris Parkin, 47, described “the five most surreal minutes in history” when the star and his girlfriend, actress Dakota Johnson, visited The Stag Inn at Hinton Charterhouse on Sunday afternoon.

The singer and songwriter took to the piano after a couple at the pub, who are currently planning their wedding, mentioned that their first song will be A Skyplay of Coldplay Stars.

Parkin said Martin asked him if he wanted me to play there.

In a video posted by the pub, the star asks the couple their names before playing the success of their band in the room.

The pub owner said, “It was really brilliant, a brilliant moment.

“It’s always a bit of a shock, things like that.

“It was one of those things where you say,‘ Right, this is happening, ’” he added.

Parkin said he had been to all of Glastonbury since 1995, but that after he had stopped attending in recent years, he didn’t feel like he had been lost this time thanks to Martin’s visit.

“It felt like Glastonbury was visiting me,” he added.

“I saw their first concert in Glastonbury and I’ve seen every other Glastonbury they’ve ever done, so I’ve seen them develop as a band.

“Love them or hate them, they’re part of British culture, right? That’s the problem.”

When Martin first entered the pub, Mr. Parkin said he saw Martin and said he “looks a bit like Chris Martin.”

“And his PA said‘ Yes, this is Chris Martin, ’” he added.

The pub owner said he did not recognize Dakota Johnson until the kitchen staff pointed out who she was.

He also introduced Martin to his 13-year-old son, Alfred, who is an evolving pianist.
