Sky News presenter Peta Credlin says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese “really threw up his gauntlet” when he said there would be a referendum on an indigenous voice in Parliament this term, “regardless of whether the opposition supports it or not “.

Ms Credlin said a voice in Parliament would “root out and exacerbate” moral separatism, as it would “formalize the idea that Aboriginal people should have different standards from everyone else”.

“If a referendum is proposed and it fails, especially after a tough debate where all opponents are accused of being racist, the cause of reconciliation will be severely damaged,” he said.

“But success would be even worse, with our country permanently divided into two nations, with one more equal to the other.”

“When a train accident is the only possible outcome, isn’t it better to finish this trip before it starts?”
