Chelsea legend Petr Cech has confirmed that he will leave the club while the remodeling continues under the direction of Todd Boehly and the return of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan will be confirmed.
Petr Cech was confident that Romelu Lukaku would “bounce back” in a second season at Chelsea
Outgoing Chelsea manager Petr Cech “made it clear” that the Blues should have relied on the signing of Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian international suffered a nightmare return to Stamford Bridge following his £ 97.5m arrival from Inter Milan last summer. Lukaku struggled to secure a consistent starting spot under Thomas Tuchel, and his controversial mid-season interview with Sky in Italy caused the striker to be disciplined by the club.
The 29-year-old scored 15 goals in all competitions, but often stayed on the bench towards the end of the season. A summer departure seemed inevitable, and Chelsea have suffered a strong impact on their investment with a £ 7 million loan commission agreed for Lukaku to return to Inter Milan.

Cech is the latest confirmed departure as summer reform continues at Stamford Bridge following the sale of the club by Roman Abramovich. Former goalkeeper and technical and performance advisor joins former president Bruce Buck and sporting director Marina Granovskaia to leave the Blues after Todd Boehly’s consortium takes control.
Cech had previously played a major role in a number of transfer decisions and clubs, including the recommendation of current number one Edouard Mendy. However, the former Czech Republic saw his views on Lukaku overlooked in the final days of his time at the club.
Lukaku is expected to complete his transfer to Milan on Wednesday after completing a medical examination, according to the Telegraph. This is despite Cech’s claim that the former Everton and Manchester United striker would “bounce back” and shine next season.

Speaking days before Lukaku’s departure was sanctioned, Cech said: “Personally I think it will be a great season. Last season we saw how strong it can be at the beginning when it came. But unfortunately the long-term injury who suffered in the match against [Aston] Villa slowed it all down and then had Covid as well.
“I think we could see towards the end of the season, when he was fit and ready to return, how strong he is. I have full confidence that he will recover and have a good season. “
Cech is the latest figure to leave Chelsea after taking office, with former general manager Guy Laurence and former goalkeeper Christophe Lollichon also leaving. The 40-year-old’s departure puts even more pressure on Boehly’s shoulders, with the American businessman already leading the transfer negotiations as the Blues look for a new sporting director.
Todd Boehly’s involvement in the transfer to Chelsea was criticized after asking Cristiano Ronaldo that Petr Cech is leaving Chelsea after meeting with new owner Todd Boehly.
The new owner is said to have asked Cech to stay in charge to help with the transition, but at a meeting he was told the former goalkeeper felt it was the “right time.” It means Tuchel now doesn’t have the whole back structure he had worked with since his appointment in January 2021.
Chelsea and Manchester United are currently the only clubs in the ‘Big Six’ that have not yet made a senior summer signing. However, the Blues are said to have contacted him for a possible deal for Manchester City striker Raheem Sterling.
The England international is about to enter the final year of his contract with the Premier League champions, and concern over playing time has led the 27-year-old to consider his departure. The city is said to have agreed terms on the sale of Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal, with reports suggesting negotiations will now turn into a possible price exit for Sterling.
