One person died after a fire accident in Burnaby, BC, overnight.
The RCMP says officers were called to the scene at Boundary Road, near Canada Way, shortly before 12:45 p.m.
A statement said a black Jeep Cherokee had gone north on Boundary Road just before the crash. The driver, who was riding alone in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said witnesses tried to save the driver.
“We would like to thank the multiple witnesses who tried to save the driver and contacted the emergency services,” the Cpl said. Alexa Hodgins wrote in the statement. “We understand that such events can be traumatic, but the actions of the witnesses are nothing more than heroic.”
Boundary Road remained closed in both directions Tuesday morning between 22nd Avenue and Canada Way.
Anyone who has seen the crash or may have a video of the Boundary Road dashboard camera between Grandview Highway and Kingsway Avenue between 12:00 and 1:00 is asked to call the RCMP.
