The NDP leader believes Bruce Chaulk’s suspension from office was the most prudent, but hopes the rest of the process will be resolved quickly.
Chaulk was suspended yesterday from his post as election director and commissioner for legislative rules, pending the outcome of an independent review by the Citizens representative.
Jim Dinn stresses that the review may not be a long process. He says this cannot be another three- or four-month process. He says the results must be in the hands of the House of Assembly so that they can deal with it when the legislature reopens.
Opposition leader David Brazil says he is pleased to finally see some action in this regard.
He says the citizen deputy’s report has lasted for months, as they pressed for action from the Assembly House Management Committee. “I am glad that the Prime Minister has received my advice,” Brazil says, and moving to an independent review was the right step.
