In an update today, Meta introduces new ways to quickly organize and access Facebook groups. These features help administrators and members keep up to date with the commitments of their community.
Meta has introduced channels, which are “focused spaces for people to connect in smaller, informal environments within their communities.” New features include a sidebar to access your favorite Facebook groups faster. The sidebar will list your groups as well as the most recent activity within them that you haven’t seen yet.
In addition, you can set groups to appear first in your schedule; each time you re-enter Facebook, the set groups will show up first and be ready for you. Within each Facebook group, you’ll also find a new menu that shows events, stores, and various channels to make it easier to discover topics that are important to you.
The update is also useful for Facebook group administrators, as they can create smaller-sized channels to encourage deeper conversations about specific areas of interest. There are “community chat channels” for users to communicate with Messenger. “Community audio channels” allow members to enter and exit real-time audio conversations. Finally, “Community Feed Channels” provide a way for group members to chat when it suits them. With this, administrators can tailor the group to more specific topics for interested members.
What do you think of the new update to help you organize Facebook groups? Will you use any of these new tools?
