British Airways says Heathrow’s strip changes “help provide certainty” to passengers

British Airways has responded to reports that its Heathrow services are expected to bear the brunt of the new cancellations by saying it is grateful for the new measures to enable them to be carried out.

He arrives after another week of travel chaos at Heathrow when the airport ordered flights to be canceled because he could not manage them. On Thursday and Friday, airport passengers complained about long queues, canceled flights and lost luggage, as “schedule intervention” and disruptions at UK airports were see aggravated by strikes in Spain.

The airline told PA that it welcomed the “time slot alleviation” measures that would allow airlines to temporarily reduce their schedules, but still keep their strips for next year.

An airline spokesman told the PA news agency that its cancellations, caused by amnesty in the take-off and landing strips, “will help us provide the security our customers deserve, facilitating the consolidation of some of our quieter daily flights to multifrequency destinations well in advance ”.

It comes after the Daily Telegraph reported that BA Heathrow services would be the hardest hit by a series of new cancellations.

“Allocation of places according to the [World Airport Slots Guide system] it means airlines can deliver the consistent services and efficient connections that consumers are looking for and protect jobs and create growth in the UK ”.

The threat of industrial action also continues to increase. BA staff are demanding 10% of the salary they had “stolen” from them last year as they faced “fire and recontract” tactics during the pandemic.
