FP3: Dominant Verstappen leads Red Bull 1-2 in the final training sessions before qualifying for the British Grand Prix

Max Verstappen bounced back from a discreet Friday to set a brilliant pace and lead a Red Bull one-two in the final workout at Silverstone.

The championship leader clocked a 1m 27,901s, an impressive four-tenths of a second ahead of teammate Sergio Perez, with Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari third, a few hundredths behind while the expected rain stopped.

The Mercedes upgrade seems to have brought them closer to the top two teams, with George Russell beating his teammate Lewis Hamilton, the top five separated by six tenths of a second to establish an intriguing standings.

Carlo Sainz was not happy with the level of rebounding in the high speed corners, the Spaniard told his Ferrari team that he was no better than yesterday.

The Ferrari driver, for the last time in Canada, was sixth, with McLaren’s Lando Norris impressing once again in seventh place, albeit 1.2 seconds behind the pace.

Valtteri Bottas, of Alfa Romeo, stayed a little beyond eighth place, with Haas making big gains overnight as Mick Schumacher finished in ninth place. Fernando Alonso completed the top 10, which featured seven different teams.

Esteban Ocon was just behind in the 11th, the highly updated Alpine had a more impressive performance after the team found some solutions overnight.

Sebastian Vettel was the leader of the Aston Martin in 12th, four places and three tenths ahead of his teammate Lance Stroll, with Zhou Guanyu 13th.

FP3 Highlights: British Grand Prix

Williams is reasonably pleased with the performance of his significantly improved car, which only uses Alex Albon, with the Thai driver in 14th place.

AlphaTauri continues to struggle, as expected, in the fast turns of Silverstone, with Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda 17th and 19th, with Daniel Ricciardo in between and Nicholas Latifi backing the Williams time sheets of old specs.

The classification takes place at 15:00 local time, with forecasts suggesting that there will be rain.
