The version 2.8 update for Genshin Impact, called “Summer Fantasia,” will be released on July 13, developer miHoYo announced.

The Golden Apple Archipelago will once again welcome travelers with new areas, engaging stories, intriguing puzzles and treasures, and various island recreations. Meanwhile, Diluc and Fischl will have a fresh look with their new costumes, while Kaedahara Kazuha and a lot of old friends will visit again along with the new playable character Shikanoin Heizou.
The next update will kick off the big Summertime Odyssey seasonal event in the company of Fischl, Xinyan, Kaedahara Kazuha and Mona. The Golden Apple Archipelago has undergone a drastic makeover, adding new realms, extensive exploration gameplay, more treasure chests, and unexpected stories about fellow travelers. Those who experience these exciting adventures can have the opportunity to recruit for free the playable four-star character Fischl.
The Golden Apple Archipelago also offers refreshing recreations on the island, whether players are traveling alone or with friends. During the “Resonating Visions” event, players can collect special snails with stories and messages, and exchange Fischl’s new costume. With the latest cooperative event “Reminiscent Regime”, players can sail together with friends and complete various challenges at sea.
Meanwhile, on the ground, Diluc, Kaedehara Kazuha and the new four-star Shikanoin Heizou will receive their own events and stories. Diluc will receive a new dress with a distinctive look, new inactive animation and new effects, available in the store with a limited time discount. The dress also has its background story that can be found at the “Hidden Strife” challenge event. Another character, Kaedehara Kazuha, is also set to reveal more about himself with the first chapter of his Story Quest set to open soon. In addition, his friend Shikanoin Heizou, a young genius who solves crimes of the Tenryou Commission, will be released in version 2.8. And players can join Heizou to be detectives for a day at their conversation event.
In combat, Shikanoin Heizou stands out for being the first user of the game’s melee catalyst. It can damage Amen with powerful blows and kicks, and it can even cause additional elemental damage to enemies affected by Hydro / Pyro / Cryo / Electro. Heizou will be available at the Kaedehara Kazuha and Klee Repetition Wishes event in the initial phase of version 2.8. Yoimiya event wish will be available in the later phase of the upgrade.
Genshin Impact is now available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC via client and Epic Games Store, iOS via the App Store and Android via Google Play. A Switch version is also planned.
