ROME (AP) – Tesla CEO Elon Musk, whose $ 44 billion bid to buy Twitter is still in limbo, used the social media platform to announce that he had met with Pope Francis.

“I’m honored to meet @Pontifex yesterday,” Musk tweeted at the hearing Friday afternoon, alongside a photo showing Musk, Francis and four of Musk’s teenage children.

The Vatican did not announce the hearing or provide any information on what was spoken. Musk’s tweet followed a street scene in Venice, suggesting he might have had other stops on his tour.

Francis meets frequently with high-profile personalities in strictly private audiences held in a reception room of the Vatican hotel where he lives. A common point of conversation he uses when he meets with CEOs of companies is to ask them to use wealth and technology to help the poorest while caring for God’s creation.

On June 21, the Twitter board advised shareholders to approve Musk’s takeover bid, although Twitter shares remain well below their bid price, indicating considerable doubt that the sale occurs.
