ABC wins nine Tasmanian Media Awards, including Journalist of the Year

The ABC has won nine awards at the Tasmanian Media Awards.

Investigative journalist Emily Baker has been awarded the Tasmanian Journalist of the Year Award, and the jury said she was the “clear winner.”

She also won the category of comments and analysis, as well as the best news, for her report on the alleged use of false identities by former Liberal MP Adam Brooks to deceive women.

“Emily broke exclusive stories and showed great courage to bring them to light and persecute them, despite considerable pressure from both the government and the opposition,” said one of the judges.

“She was able to gain people’s trust by allowing her to tell her stories. Emily’s stories were original, shocking, and far more far-reaching than just the Tasmanian market.”

“I feel so privileged and grateful to have been trusted to share their stories, and this award really belongs to them.”
