A young boy has been mutilated by a friend’s dog in a camp in northwest Washington.
According to police, the eight-year-old was attacked at a Gnaraloo camp in Carnarvon around 7.30am on Saturday morning.
He suffered severe lacerations to his face and head. Injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Officers told 7NEWS the photographs of the wounds were too horrifying to release.

The boy was taken to Carnarvon Hospital before being flown by the Royal Flying Doctor Service to Perth for medical treatment.
“Initial investigations were conducted by police, however, Carnarvon Rangers County now has the investigation into this incident,” WA police said in a statement.
