Opposition fishing critic Craig Pardy wants to see the federal government’s cod recovery plan 30 years after the cod moratorium was first announced.
Three decades later and cod populations have yet to recover to the point where it allows the resumption of a commercial cod fishery across the province.
Pardy says the province and country are not yet ahead in an action plan to grow cod stocks. He says it’s okay for the federal minister to recognize that seals eat fish, but he would like to see a plan to tackle seal predation and a plan to rebuild and recover cod.
