Amtrak said McDonagh was hit in a pedestrian crossing. The railway company said the crossing was equipped with warning devices and none of the 178 passengers on the train were injured.
Autopsy results released Saturday determined his death was an accident. The coroner’s office said McDonagh was riding a bicycle at the time, but authorities have not given further details.
Glenview police were assisting Amtrak police in their investigation.
